Juniper Island ("we," "us," or "our") operates juniperisland.ca. This page explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Information We Collect

We collect information you voluntarily provide when you:

• Submit a contact form (name, email, message)
• Email us directly
• Sign up for Big Social Calendar updates (email address)
• Apply for a job with us (name, email, links to your work, your answers, editing tools, earliest start date and hourly rate)

We also automatically collect anonymous usage data through Google Analytics, including:

• Pages visited and time spent
• Device type and browser
• General geographic location (city/country level)
• Referral source
• How the Big Social Calendar is used: which views, months and entries are opened, how often you come back, and which of our pages you visit from it. We never record what you type into its search box.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Respond to your inquiries
• Consider your job application for the role you applied for, and similar roles in the next 12 months
• Understand how visitors use our website
• Improve our services and website experience
• Send Big Social Calendar update emails, only if you asked for them. We email only when the calendar changes. Ask us anytime and we will remove you.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Google Analytics – to understand website traffic and usage patterns. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
• Google Workspace – to keep job applications in a private Google Sheet and email them to our team. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy

• Resend – to keep the Big Social Calendar update list and send those emails. Resend's privacy policy: resend.com/legal/privacy-policy

Data Retention

Contact form submissions are retained as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry and maintain our business records. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' default settings.

Job applications are kept for 12 months, then deleted. Ask us any time and we will delete yours sooner.

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us. You can also opt out of Google Analytics tracking by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Cookies

We use cookies for analytics purposes. These are small text files stored on your device that help us understand how you use our website. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

We do not use advertising cookies. If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we do not set analytics cookies either. Google may still receive basic signals without cookies, such as that a page was viewed.

The Big Social Calendar also saves a few settings in your browser, such as your view, your filters and how many times you have visited. These stay on your device. Clearing your browser data removes them.
